Our Story

30 years of passion for video games — from one of the UK's first gaming websites to a modern data-driven hub.

    Founded in 1996

TotalVideoGames.com launched in 1996, making it one of the very first websites in the UK dedicated to discussing and reviewing video games. In those early days of the internet, the site became a trusted destination for gamers looking for honest reviews, news, and community.

    14 Years of Gaming Coverage

Over 14 years the site grew into an award-winning publication, earning recognition at the Games Media Awards and building a loyal community of readers who valued independent, quality games journalism. It was a labour of love for everyone involved.

    The Closure — January 2012

On 17 January 2012, after 14 years of operation, TotalVideoGames.com closed its doors. The changing media landscape made it increasingly difficult to sustain independent games journalism at the level readers deserved.

    Back After 30 Years — 2026

Three decades after it all began, TotalVideoGames.com is back — but with a different approach. Rather than producing traditional editorial content, we've relaunched as a data aggregator, bringing together information from across the gaming industry into one place.

Our mission is simple: curate the best data, insights, and tools to help the gaming community make informed decisions. That means game information, deals, player statistics, critic reviews, and discovery tools — all in one hub.
