Zelda Explained – Must Read!!! News

Chris Leyton

It appears that Miyamoto must have been reading, as he explains where The Wind Waker sits in the Zelda timeline + other fascinating details.

After our news article yesterday, when we tried to figure out where The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker fits into the Zelda timeline, it turns out we were completely wrong as Miyamoto revealed some specific and interesting details on the title in a US videoconference.

The events of the GameCube title are set 100 years after The Ocarina of Time; players control a character named Link, who is given a green tunic that is tied to a legend of a great hero who wore green. Therefore we finally know that different Linkās have featured throughout the series, contradicting what was claimed in the Official Timeline at www.Zelda.com, but backing up Miyamotoās previous claims of there being three (now four?) Linkās in the games so far.

This clears up the one aspect that has puzzled Zelda fans for years; it appears that the battle between Link and Ganon represents the epic struggle between Good and Evil; indicative of the timeless nature of evil, a hero named Link will always rise to fight Gannon.

Not entirely sure whether we like this concept, or the idea that one Link has traversed through time and many adventures with the use of the Ocarina; but at least itās all cleared up now.
