Ubisoft opens in a new Eastern European country; first project to be Rayman Raving Rabbids on PC...
Ubisoft has today confirmed that it's established a new development studio in Sofia, Bulgaria. The studio "Ubisoft Bulgaria" follows in the footsteps of Ubisoft Romania as the company's foothold in the new talent pool of Eastern Europe.
Currently operating with 21 staff members including the former Director of Recruitment & Training at Ubisoft Romania, Alexandru-Ion Radu who will head the new studio, Ubisoft Bulgaria will expand to around 40 by the end of the year. The new studio has been charged with creating the PC version of Michel Ancel's Rayman Raving Rabbids on PC, and a console version of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation: 3 Degrees of Murder.
"The opening of our new studio in Bulgaria is part of Ubisoft's ongoing strategy to develop major titles internally, ensuring creativity and innovation," said Christine Burgess-Quémard, executive director, Worldwide Studios at Ubisoft. "The core team of developers from Bulgaria has already proved itself and we look forward to expanding our studio through recruitment of the talented local engineers and artists."
Ubisoft recently announced its financial results for the 2005/2006 fiscal year, which saw an increase in sales but a drop in income.
