Xbox Live Dead Till Midnight News

Xbox Live, Xbox.com, and the Xbox forums down for maintenance until midnight tonight...
In his regularly updated blog, Microsoft's Larry Hryb (aka Major Nelson) has confirmed that the fourteen hour downtime of both Xbox Live and Xbox.com is for maintenance only.
There had been speculation that today would see an update to the Xbox 360 Dashboard, which would bring the almost mythical ability of background downloading to the GUI, but it seems that that will have to wait for another time.
It does mean that for today at least gamers will have to concentrate on developing their offline skills, and there does remain one very important question that was posed by one MajorNelson poster: will we be getting that lost day back from our Xbox Live subscriptions?
