Internet security firm announces the successful patching of the official Xbox 360 website...
Finjan Software has announced how it advised Microsoft of a security flaw in the official website for the Xbox 360 console, which could have potentially led to phishing attacks. Phishing, which is when fraud is committed by someone posing as an official website, email or instant message, has been one of the major problems experienced by online banks; in this case, personal details from people wishing to sign-up for future information on the console were vulnerable to attack.
âFinjanâs Malicious Code Research Center (MCRC) is fully dedicated to the research of new trends in Internet security and the detection of vulnerabilities that could lead to potential malicious attacks,â stated Shlomo Touboul, CEO and Founder of Finjan Software. âThis discovery is another example of our cooperation with Microsoft and other leading software vendors to fix vulnerabilities before they are exploited by the hacking community.â
The problem was fixed by Microsoft within 12 hours of the initial advise from Finjan, and the site is now secure from this specific vulnerability. Weâll have more on the Xbox 360 shortly...
