Xbox 360 Production To Increase News

Microsoft confirms that production of its next-gen console is set to increase from this week...
It's been well documented that Microsoft's Xbox 360 has been hampered by a bottleneck of production that has seen stocks of the console heavily depleted since its launch at the end of 2005. Reports of certain component providers not quite able to keep up with demand have reverberated throughout the web and the industry as a whole, and all the while Microsoft has maintained its forecast for sales of the console to reach between 4.5 million and 5.5 million units by the end of June 2006.
So it's perhaps with a sigh of relief that Microsoft has today announced that production of the Xbox 360 will increase by "two to three times" beginning this week. The company cites the production of units at partner Celestica, together with an increase in the production of components for the console.
Stocks of the console have been appearing in certain high street stores in recent weeks although now it seems any shortfall will be corrected by today's news.
