An online group describes how they managed to get an Xbox 360 HD-DVD drive to work on Windows XP...
There's a little over two weeks before Microsoft releases the HD-DVD drive for Xbox 360 across Europe, but it seems that the device may end up being connected to more than just their next-gen console . The hardware-curious team at UneasySilence has managed to discover the drivers needed to run the Toshiba HD-DVD drive in the unit, enabling the £129.99 accessory to be fully functional on a Windows XP PC.
Mac computers are also apparently recognising the drive, although the site points out the Apple's machines don't have an HD-compatible media layer for the moment.
With the release of an external HD-DVD drive for PCs likely to be some way off in the UK, Microsoft seems will be accidentally offering a handy solution from December 1st.
