Online report suggests that the next version of Microsoft’s console may allow for removable hard-drives...


As the year goes on we are set to be inundated with various rumours and hearsay surrounding Xbox 2/Xbox Next/neXtbox/Xbox 360, and the latest one appears to tally with earlier reports. Way back in April 2004, we reported on rumours that suggested that Xbox2 will be fitted with an iPod style media player. Following that report came another rumour that Microsoft were to launch three versions of the machine: one with a hard drive, one without, and one that would double as an entry-level PC.

Todays rumour comes from online technology site, Engadget, which has reported once again that the next-gen console is to be called Xbox 360, not only that, but the article states that a reliable source has claimed that an optional hard drive will be available that will attach to the Xbox 2, in a really slick way, almost like the hood scoop on a muscle carYoull be able to add the hard drive afterwards without having to take the box apart if you didnt buy the hard drive version of the Xbox 360.

Of course, there has been no confirmation of this from Microsoft and the whole rumour might just be the dredging of months old news, but stillit does make you wonder.

Come on! The newspapers are just catching up from 18 months ago, thats how slow they are. Nothing has changed since microsoft announced the $1 billion dollars they'd put aside for it and the mirror pick up on it now?!

Hahahahahaha I can't stop laughing. Sony released the trophy system for about a day or so and then cancelled it because they found out the expansion was causing a lot of their consoles crash so now their repair shop is full. Oh and the only game that... [ Read full comment... ]

oh and on the subject of power, POWER IS NOTHING WITHOUT GAMES THAT ACTUALLY MAKE USE OF IT. and so far only 1 game on the ps3 has(mgs4) the rest dont even try and bizarly i thought burnout was supposed to be designed for playstation yet it coulndnt ... [ Read full comment... ]

lol Not to worry Microsoft will soon finish Sony off completely. I am amazed how long it took the PS3 to get its first decent game(aka MGS4) while the xbox360 has all the RPG greatness on exclusive mode. Microsoft has some new surprises in store for ... [ Read full comment... ]

oh and one more thing about the 360's wireless controllers, once the rechargable battery packs die if anyone has ever had that, at least they dont have to buy a new controller unlike the six @sses controller the only other things the 360 doesnt have ... [ Read full comment... ]

Xbox 360 is great consul as was original Xbox both better than PS2 but now it's THE PS3 i prefer as its all rounder wiht Blu Ray and it's future proof...PS3

I own both the PS3 & 360. I must say I clock many more hours on my PS3, especially since MSG4 has come out. I also beta test Home. Its a great idea and will add some cool elements to the online space, but so far it hasn't been executed very well.... [ Read full comment... ]
