Microsoft CEO, Steve Ballmer, confirms a 2006 release date for the Xbox successor...
According to remarks made in Japan by Steve Ballmer, Microsoft CEO, the US giant will release Xbox2 (Xenon) in 2006.
Whilst many had suspected that Microsoft would try to gain the upper hand on Sony and launch in 2005, it now appears that Microsoft are happy to squeeze another year out of the Xbox and launch on a level pegging with the Playstation3 in 2006.
Representatives of the US software developer were keen to play down the reports, claiming that: "No date has been announced for future Xbox products or services. Our executives often talk about the future in terms of vision and the possibilities of technology. This is what allows us to be innovative as a company."
