Microsoft CEO confirms a Japanese release date for the Xbox2 and snubs Sega once again...
Speaking to the respected Japanese business publication - the Nihon Keizai Shimbun â“ Steve Ballmer, CEO Microsoft, shed some interesting information on Xbox2 and Microsoftâs interest in Sega.
Ballmer re-iterated the fact that Microsoft had taken over the No.2 spot in terms of worldwide sales, and remained bullish about Japan despite the failure of the Xbox. Ballmer claimed that lessons have been learned and that Microsoft are thinking of services that will appeal more to the Japanese market, for when Microsoft plan to launch the Xbox2 in spring 2006.
This is the clearest indication of a firm release date that weâve had yet, presumably setting the course for both Sony and Nintendo as well.
Ballmer went on to announce that Microsoft currently have no plans to acquire Sega, denying recent talk that the US giant was looking to purchase some parts of Sega.
