Rare's revamped version of Goldeneye for XBLA is finally revealed following a week of teaser screens...
Last month it was all but officially confirmed that Rare had been working on a remake of Goldeneye 007 for Xbox Live Arcade although the game had been cancelled, apparently due to contractual disagreements between Microsoft and Nintendo.
Now, following a week long campaign of teaser screens from Xbox World 360, a full screenshot of the XBLA remake has finally been revealed. As many had guessed already, the teaser shots were taken from the top of Byelomorye Dam in the classic game's opening level.
Sure enough, the screen shows significantly tidier visuals than the 10 year-old N64 version, with smoother textures all-round and much crisper backdrops. However, don't be fooled into thinking that this means Goldeneye will be coming to XBLA any time soon, as the blog entry accompanying the screen clearly states, "How can we make sure this incredible remake does see the light of day?"
Well, there are reams of petitions around the net that gamers can sign to try and get the game released. It's certainly interesting that Microsoft has decided to publicise the XBLA title in this way. Perhaps the software giant is hoping that Nintendo will cave to the pressure of the gaming masses and drop its rumoured quibbles over royalty payment details.
