World Tour Golf Gains New Title + Woosnam, O'Meara and Bjorn News

It's only a couple of months until Oxygen's most anticipated title hits the green, so make a note of what to look for...
Oxygen Interactive today sent word that World Tour Golf has received a name change, based upon positive critical acclaim of the game's primary feature. Keen eyed golf fanatics may have spotted the name change across TVG with the release of yesterday's trailer, which shall now be known as "ProStroke Golf - World Tour 2007".
Emphasising the game's groundbreaking control mechanic, the ProStroke, and presumably setting the way for annual updates, the new title hints at Oxygen's worldwide aspirations for the promising title.
With a release scheduled in September, such a change this late in the day comes at the risk of confusing those who've been following its progress; however Oxygen are confident that the previous generic title did not do justice to the game. Oxygen's CEO Jim Scott commented: "Continuing with a generic name that had started as a working title short-changed the game. ProStroke Golf, on the other hand, puts the game's greatest feature right into the title and makes it clear why this is the most interesting golf title this decade."
Admittedly it's not exactly the type of news that typically grabs the headlines, however, ProStroke Golf - World Tour 2007 shows every sign of upsetting EA and Tiger Woods grip on the market.
In a separate announcement, professional support for the title continues to grow, with Ian Woosnam, Mark O'Meara and Thomas Bjorn joining the fold.
ProStroke Golf - World Tour 2007 is scheduled for an August release; look out for further coverage soon.
