Blizzard's smash hit MMORPG breaks through the million subscription mark in Europe...

The level of success that Blizzard MMORPG World of Warcraft has never been in doubt with over 5.5 million subscribers worldwide, but today the scale of that success in Europe has been put into perspective. Available in English, French and German, Blizzard has announced that the number of subscribers across the continent has reached the one million mark, eleven months after it launched in February 2005. Such a figure is obviously impressive, but that it represents a four-fold increase in the estimated number of MMO players in Europe prior to its launch, really shows how much the game has taken he continent by storm.

"It is extremely rewarding to see so many European players enjoying World of Warcraft," said Mike Morhaime, President and Cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment(r). "The players have supported our belief in the European MMORPG market, and we thank them for helping us make World of Warcraft one of the most popular games in the world."

Either way, it won't be long before we find out if our Mages, Warriors, and Draenei will have to pack for arctic conditions... that sounds so stupid... draenies suck n they r a race not a class

Wow is designed in such a manner that you HAVE to commit immense number of hours into the game in order to actually achieve anythuing. All the items you will get in drops will be 2-5 levels lower. The game is designed in codepency and farming tons of... [ Read full comment... ]

It's silly to call one MMO is better than another. They are all designed to target different market shares and niches. Thats like going to a women's shoestore and complaining that their are no boots. It is not the stores fault, it is yours.
