Japanese sales topple a million of Konami’s superlative soccer simulation.
Konami Entertainment Tokyo (Konami TYO) today announced that its PS2 title, Winning Eleven 6, has sold 1million copies within 8 weeks of going on sale.
For those still confused, the Winning Eleven moniker is the Japanese name for the Pro Evolution titles released in Europe. Pro Evolution Soccer 2, due for release in October, is a European conversion of Winning Eleven 6, whilst the ISS titles are completely different kettle of fish.
âWe are delighted that Winning Eleven 6 has been so well received in Japan,â commented Kunio Neo, President for Konami of Europe. âIt represents the absolute pinnacle of football games. With the refinements Konami TYO is currently putting in place for its European release as Pro Evolution Soccer 2, we are also very confident the game will enjoy equal success all across our European territories.â
