Wii Outsells PS3 In Japan - Price Cut Looming ??? News

The difference increases as Enterbrain suggest a price-cut could be on the way...


According to research undertaken by Japan's largest videogames magazine publisher, Enterbrain, sales of Wii continued to outstrip PlayStation 3 in Japan throughout January by a significant ratio of nearly three to one.

The publisher stated that sales of Wii stood at approximately 405,000 units last month, whilst the PS3 sold about 148,000 units. The figures continue to push Nintendo into the lead throughout Japan, with total sales of Wii across the region reaching 1.4 million compared to 614,000 PS3 sales.

Suggesting that the price difference and software catalogue is the main difference between the two, Enterbrain President Hirokazu Hamamura commented, "There could be a price cut for the PS3 by the end of the year, and more software titles will hit the market. I expect the PS3 to be doing better after a while."

to 133.21, its simple how the wii can challenge other consoles games like the 360, they have games for the WHOLE family, like wii sports and wii play, i mean can u imagin ur grandmotrher on halo3? or metal gear solid?? no obvioulsy not, they'll probs... [ Read full comment... ]

I know I'm a bit late to this party, but you're wrong, "mrawesome" (can anyone be more generic?). The 360 isn't doing well in Japan and most of Asia, and the PS3 is closing in on the 360 in Europe. I'm not saying that sales = better console... [ Read full comment... ]
