EA/Harmonix reveals a summer launch for the Wii edition of the game...

After months of speculation, Electronic Arts has today confirmed that Rock Band will be heading to Wii this June - in North America at least.

The game, which is yet to launch on any format outside of the US and Canada on June 22nd, features 63 tracks and an additional 5 songs exclusive to Wii, and will retail for $169.99.

"The Wii's success among casual and core gamers of all ages makes it an ideal match for the cross-generational appeal of the music featured in Rock Band," says Bob Picunko, Vice President of Electronic Games and Interactive Products, MTV

"The social interaction and addictive nature of the Rock Band experience is a perfect fit for the Wii and will undoubtedly be fun for the entire family," says Steve Singer, licensing VP from Nintendo.

EA CEO John Riccitiello confirmed the wii version of Rock Band in early February during a conference call. A new addition the Rock Band line up is certainly welcome - but when will it launch in Europe, EA???
