Wii Gets New Surge In Japan News

Nintendo's box of tricks outsell PS3 by 4:1 in Japan during the last four weeks...


The monthly Japanese hardware sales have been released today by Enterbrain, which shows Wii once again extending its lead over PlayStation 3 throughout February.

It had seemed during January that Sony's monolith was starting to catch up with Wii, reducing the ratio of Wii to PS3 sales to about 3:1. The figures published today have shown however that Wii has again pulled away, with sales of 4:1 over PlayStation 3, selling over 331,627 units to the PS3's 89,131.

The new surge by Wii can be strongly attributed to the launch of Super Smash Bros Brawl on the system, which has sold over 1.3 million copies since it debuted in Japan on January 31st. Nintendo's Wii Fit also contributed to the Wii's strong sales, with over 300,000 units sold in the country.

In distant third came the Xbox 360, with a paltry 14,079 units.

to 133.21, its simple how the wii can challenge other consoles games like the 360, they have games for the WHOLE family, like wii sports and wii play, i mean can u imagin ur grandmotrher on halo3? or metal gear solid?? no obvioulsy not, they'll probs... [ Read full comment... ]

I know I'm a bit late to this party, but you're wrong, "mrawesome" (can anyone be more generic?). The 360 isn't doing well in Japan and most of Asia, and the PS3 is closing in on the 360 in Europe. I'm not saying that sales = better console... [ Read full comment... ]
