Wii Fit Takes Mario Kart Wii's Crown News

Miyamoto's fit-em-up becomes Nintendo's fastest selling title in the UK...

It seems nobody can put Nintendo down at the moment. Still smiling after its success with Mario Kart Wii, the Japanese giant today celebrated further triumphs with confirmation that Wii Fit has shot to the top of the UK charts.

Eclipsing the success of Mario Kart Wii, Wii Fit becomes Nintendo's fastest selling title in the UK, notching up sales reported to stand at 1 in 10 Wii owners, approximately 250,000 copies. This figure has generated approximately £16.3 million in sales during the first two days of release, making it the third largest UK launch behind Halo 3 (£16.9 million) and GTA: San Andreas (£24.2 million).

Despite a significant decrease in sales, Nintendo also holds onto the second spot with Mario Kart Wii, marking the first time in five years since Nintendo has held the top two spots.

Of course, all of this will be irrelevant next week when the beast that is GTA4 finally explodes onto the charts.

I got a good workout the moment I bought Wii Fit. Carrying it around as I did my shopping on a hot day and I had lost a few pounds before it was even out of the box (and thats not just the 53 pounds in my back pocket)

Well I suppose your weight is going to substantially drop after taking 70 notes from your back pocket - so in a way, Wii Fit is already working before you've even plugged it in :)

Oooh, I hate how the US and asian market always treat the EUropean market as worthless. No gun, no wiifit... nothing for christmas. These would've been the perfect presents for my somewhat crazy niece! :)
