Wi-Fi Play Announced For US PSP Launch News

SCEA announce that five of their own PSP launch titles will be Wi-Fi compatible so seek out those hotspots…
With the US release of the PSP still over 5 weeks away, Sony Computer Entertainment America has today confirmed that five first party titles for the handheld console will be Wi-Fi compatible on launch day.
Although gamers will be able to play head to head in the same area as featured in numerous Japanese titles, this feature will theoretically allow PSP owners in a Wi-Fi hotspot to connect over the net and play against global competitors in a kind of Xbox Live! structure.
The five titles will be ATV Offroad Fury: Blazinâ Trails, Twisted Metal: Head-On, MLB, NBA, and Gretzky NHL, leaving SCEA way ahead of SCEI in terms of pushing forward the online capabilities of the PSP where at the moment, there are no online titles available yet.
As we previously reported, the PSP may be released in Europe towards the end of April 2005, although SCEE have neither confirmed that as being the launch date or whether the system will have support for online games at its launch.
Weâll have more shortlyâ¦
