Sports Interactive give us an extensive description of the new features set to be found within Football Manager 2005…
Sports Interactive today posted further details on the eagerly awaited Football Manager 2005, currently in development for the PC and scheduled for release towards the end of autumn.
Amongst the vast improvements being made to the title include an updated user interface, which as you can tell from the screenshots looks markedly different to anything before it. The changes result in a system that is easier to navigate through, with each screen explaining what information is on offer and how to get to other related information.
Sports Interactive claim that consistency between the various game elements will be more noticeable then in previous football management titles, with operations such as filtering and sorting now working consistently throughout the game.
The overall look of the game is completely customisable, allowing players to store their preferred views and return to them quickly.
The genre-defining match engine has also come under heavy refinement, with Sports Interactive listening carefully to what the fans had to say; as a result the engine has undergone a range of enhancements, such as the inclusion of more than 30 extra fields for player data, including such elements as the all-new âpreferred movesâ attribute.
Tied into this is the ability for player agents to send video clips (using the match engine) of a playerâs performance to the player, in the hope of setting up a potential transfer.
Further notable enhancements include the ability for the player to become involved in âmind gamesâ with rival managers. Players can click on a mangerâs name and issue a comment to the media relating to that person, with the effect of the comments intensifying the amount of pressure surrounding title races, relegation battles, cup-ties and so forth. Weâre also told that playerâs will be able to use this feature in relation to your own players, other clubs and media pundits.
Players will also benefit from the ability to garnish more information from games, international matches and backroom coaches.
Weâre told that the pre and post-match information has been overhauled; whilst for the first time, managers will receive information on international performances, allowing you to follow playerâs international careers and ascertain how they are performing on the highest stage.
In addition to commenting on individual players, coaches will now offer their opinion on the squad as a whole, thus helping the manager to decide which areas need improvement; whilst players will be able to search through an in-game âJob Centreâ to hire new coaches and other staff.
Finally managers on a budget will be able to offer surplus players an opportunity to agree mutual contract termination, which will reduce the cost of releasing players and trimming squads.
