Warner Bros stepping into the gaming market? News

TVG Staff

Well it looks like Warner Bros are about to step into the world of gaming.....

Media giants âWarner Brothersâ are preparing to step into the games market in a new Interactive Entertainment division they have launched. The intention is that with such popular licenses as âHarry Potterâ and âThe Matrixâ, Warner Brothers want to do there own games and not merely sell the rights to developers.

Jason Hall, who was previously CEO of Monolith Productions, has been appointed to head the new division, in which his job title is Senior Vice President, Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment. Jason Hall who co-founded Monolith, which is involved in game licensing and game development, has a game in the works â“ âThe Matrix Onlineâ which is a massive multiplayer online title for Ubisoft in which the license was bought of Warner Bros.

Dan Romanelli who is Warner Bros Worldwide Consumer Products president quoted âHistorically, gaming for the studio has been licensing driven,"

âWe have developed relationships with the best interactive gaming partners in the world and, together, we have taken the license model to new levels."

"We now have the opportunity to broaden our point-of-view, diversify our business approach, bring added value to our partners that will increase our mutual successes and with Warner Bros Games create a brand with consumers in the gaming world that is synonymous with the excellence behind the Warner Bros Shield."

Warner Bros are going to work closely with âHarry Potterâ and âEnter the Matrixâ publishers EA and Atari respectively to strengthen their existing relationship.

Weâll bring you further details on this announcement and how it affects the current standing with EA and Atari soon.
