World of Warcraft proves to be a massive success for Blizzard in Oceania and North America…
Blizzard has announced that World of Warcraft, the MMORPG released in December 2004 in Oceania and North America, has so far sold over 600,000 units, selling out across the two territories. If this figure isnât impressive enough for you, the fact that up to 200,000 players in North America have been playing concurrently at certain times, is sure to set jaws dropping in certain circles.
In the announcement President of Blizzard Entertainment, Mike Morhaime, said, "The public's response to World of Warcraft has been simply amazingâ¦We are very proud and excited to see such an overwhelming demand for the game, and we hope that the enthusiasm continues to build as we further enhance our online service."
Blizzard have promised to keep the game updated so it stays fresh, with the promised Player vs Player battlegrounds one of the features to be unveiled at some point in the future. At the moment there is no specific date for a European release, but with Final Beta Testing just starting, EU gamers wonât have to wait to long to become immersed in WoW.
Weâll have more on WoW shortlyâ¦
