Surprisingly innovative features lurk within the latest Crash Team Racing title...
Love him or loathe him, thereâs no denying that Crash Bandicoot is here to stay, as Vivendi-Universal today lifted the lid on its latest title starring the spiky marsupial.
Crash Tag Team Racing is currently in development at Radical Entertainment for the Playstation2, Xbox, GameCube and Nintendo DS, and looks likely to offer a unique racing experience with the ability to continue the adventure on foot with out-of-car action.
For the first time ever in the genre, players will also be able to fuse two cars together during a race to form a super vehicle with the all-new âclashingâ technology. Players simply merge their vehicle with an opponentâs on-the-fly, resulting in a super vehicle that requires one player to pilot whilst the other takes control of the newly formed turret.
The game features a multitude of multiplayer modes, including splitscreen options and the ability for up to eight players to partake in system-link, while DS owners can look forward to four-player Wi-Fi bouts.
Vivendi-Universal has enlisted the assistance of famed writer, Jordan Reicheck, to help out with the game â“ a name that should be instantly familiar to the Ren & Stimpy fans out there. After being humiliated yet again by Crash at the end of Twinsanity, Dr. Neo Cortex returns to his evil scheming in his dilapidated Iceberg lair; where he hatches a plan to challenge Crash to a seemingly friendly race tournament... hiding his true intention to crush the helpless bandicoot under the ruins of the track.
âWeâre thrilled to give Crash Bandicoot® fans another hilarious adventure with the irrepressible marsupial,â said Ian Wilkinson, President, Radical Entertainment. âThe development team showed off its ability to create a break-out vehicle-based game with The Simpsons: Hit & Run and is set to deliver another innovative and wildly fun title in Crash Tag Team Racing.â
Scheduled for release during Autumn 2005; weâll have a closer look at Crash Tag Team racing soon.
