A selection of new screens from one of our most eagerly awaited titles of 2003...
A selection of new screens from Viewtiful Joe found their way to TVG today and promptly excited us all so much we had to sit down and remember how to breathe properly â“ in, out, in, outâ¦
Viewtiful Joe was one of the five games that made up the original Gamecube line-up announced by Capcom; the game appears to be fundamentally based as a side-scroller, but with a wonderful visual design and innovative ideas that should drag the genre out of its 16-bit grave.
It appears that players receive VFX points as they progress, these are then used to activate a number of special effects such as fast-forwarding the action or slow-mo for creating deadly comboâs.
The cell-shaded visual technique is the most refreshing look weâve seen since Jet Set Radio was unleashed upon the world; weâre hoping that the âdifferentâ look wonât put people off, this is one game to get very excited by people.
