Freelance mariner Jack Carver is cursing the day he ever came to this island. A week ago, a brash female reporter named Valerie had offered him an incredible sum of cash to take her to this unspoiled paradise. Shortly after docking, however, Jack's boat was greeted by artillery fire from a mysterious militia group swarming about the island. As Jack Carver, use the Wii Remote to drive, shoot, slash, jump and climb your way through a rebel-infested tropical hell.

Vengeance For Far Cry Wii News

The first details and screenshots from the debut of Far Cry on the Nintendo Wii - let's just hope there's time to make some improvements...

Having confirmed an appearance on the Wii earlier in the year, Ubisoft today revealed the first details and screens from Far Cry Vengeance, due for release alongside the launch of the Nintendo Wii on December 8th.

Based around the Xbox expansion, Far Cry Evolution, Ubisoft promises an all-new storyline, new maps and new weapons, whilst taking full advantage of the Wii remote and nunchuk controllers.

Unfortunately from the first screenshots this seems like a Wii title that is hard to get too enthused about; it may be a bad screenshot, but compare these to the Xbox version of Far Cry - there appears to be no contest, with the Wii demonstrating a complete lack of definition, in the bland and simplistic screenshots.

Hopefully Ubisoft are working away on ensuring the visual quality improves between now and release, however, we'd have to say it's going to be hard for Jack's latest adventure to steal us away from the exploits of Red Steel - perhaps the French publisher is trying just a little too hard when it comes to support for the Wii...

Expect more on the title soon.
