Valve Talks Episode 2, Portal & Team Fortress 2 (no Joke) News

The long-awaited multiplayer sequel is on the way, but probably not as you'd expect...

At the EA Summer Showcase the world's largest videogame publisher has made a number of surprises, in an otherwise simmering demonstration of their forthcoming line-up.

The long-awaited Team Fortress 2 has finally made an appearance, with a distinctive new visual style that takes influence from the 1960's - something we certainly weren't expecting. The multiplayer game is expected to make its debut on the forthcoming Half Life 2: Episode 2; expect further details soon.

Valve has also talked about a new game currently in development that will feature in Episode 2, entitled Portal. The game appears to make use of the portal technology featured in 2K Games and 3D Realms Prey, but incorporates this onto a weapon, allowing you to shoot and project portals wherever you need - expect more information on this hot prospect soon.

In other HL2 news, Valve confirmed that Half Life 2: Episode 2 will ship on the Playstation3 and Xbox 360 alongside the PC version. Suggesting that Valve hasn't turned its back on consoles just of yet, the next-gen versions will feature all of the back content to bring newcomers up to speed.

Look out for more information on Half Life 2: Episode 2 and the next-generation adaptations soon.
