Valve Co-Founder: PS3 "A Total Disaster" News

Gabe Newell launches a stinging opinion on Sony's next-generation platform, but is impressed by Wii.

There's no doubt that there's been a level of negativity towards PlayStation3, and during an interview in the latest issue of US-based Game Informer, Valve's Managing Director and Co-Founder, Gabe Newell, has thrown in his opinion on Sony's next-gen system.

Calling the PlayStation "a total disaster on so many levels", Newell certainly hasn't minced his words, adding that "It's really clear that Sony lost track of what customers wanted and what developers wanted...they should cancel it and do a 'do over'."

But Newell hasn't picked exclusively on PS3; during the interview he also said that "Vista really shows a lack of focus on making a better consumer platform," adding that, "If you're an XP user, you're going to be more comfortable upgrading to an Apple than Vista." But surely not if you want to play the latest computer games...

The one shining light from the interview surrounds Wii, which Newells predicts will "[have a] larger installed base than the 360" by Christmas 2007.

Valve are currently working on Xbox 360 and PlayStation3 versions of Half-Life 2 (Half-Life 2: Orange).
