VUG Report Huge Revenue Increases News

By Jon Wilcox on 29/07/2005 83% increase on Q2 2004`s revenues down to World of Warcraft success...

Vivendi-Universal has today released its financial reports for the first half of 2005 and second quarter 2005, together with the results from Vivendi-Universal Games. First half revenues for the group have increased by 9% on the year from ⑬8406 million to ⑬9131 million. Second quarter revenues were also up from Q2 2004’s ⑬4274 million to ⑬4622 million, an increase of 8%

Vivendi-Universal Games’ results for the same periods saw revenues increase dramatically, largely due to subscriptions to MMORPG World of Warcraft. First Half results for the division rose by 61% (67% constant currency) to ⑬238 million, while Q2 2005 revenues increased by 76% (83% constant currency) to ⑬125 million.

As TVG reported earlier this month, subscriptions to World of Warcraft have increased dramatically since the game launched in China last month, where the current number of user stood at 1.5 million.

We’ll have more on VUG’s forthcoming releases including F.E.A.R and Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction shortly…
