Unsuccessful XBLA Titles To Be Removed News

Three months notice to be given before some of the under-performing titles on the Marketplace are removed...
A veritable success story for Microsoft, the Xbox Live Arcade has seen a largely decent line up of original and re-worked titles hit the digital download service since it re-launched in November 2005.
However, with around 140 titles it's perhaps to be expected that not every title will succeed like UNO or Doom...just ask Jeff Minter.
Now it seems that Microsoft are preparing to sharpen the axe for a number of under-performing XBLA games in a bid to improve the quality on offer. In an interview with US industry-centric website, Next-Gen.biz, Xbox Live's General Manager, Marc Whitten has revealed the criteria that'll be used to decide which games remain - and which will be removed:
"...the title will need to be at least 6 months old and have a Metacritic score below 65 and a conversion rate below 6% on the service. This way titles are not just considered if they are not selling well or not getting good reviews, but actually a combination of both."
Whitten revealed that there'll be a three-month notice given before a game is removed, and at the same time confirmed recent speculation that the file size cap on XBLA titles will rise to 350MB.
So which titles will be named in the first round of cuts? Root Beer Tapper? Space Giraffe? Yaris? Frogger? For now, Microsoft are staying quiet.
