First demonstration of this Lionhead backed shoot 'em up from Llamasoft...
This game has been in development on the GameCube for eight months, only one man, Jeff Minter, has been working on it. Bear that in mind when watching this video. This is an early proof of concept that was demonstrated to Pete Molyneux and some folks from Lionhead last weekend.
The footage was captured by a wonderful Llamasoftie, going by the name Ahchay, who made the videos available on their site, Arcade Nirvana. The demonstration was originally in five parts so we decided to grab them and put 'em together in one clip, to give you a better idea of what to expect from Unity.
We are already excited about this game, as you can see from our preview and there is about a year to go until release. With the basics already in place, and looking amazing, we're sure there will be plenty of time to add lots of very cool shooty things to make sure this is a quality game.
Interesting games like Unity, and the criminally overlooked Rez, are the sort of things we like. Perfect pre or post club fodder, feeling the music and slipping into the game, ending up in an almost hypnotised state. You know it makes sense.
We won't hype Unity too much, we've no idea how it plays and at its core, as Jeff Minter says, is a simple shoot 'em up, but, there are some very interesting ideas here, if they come together then it should be a very enjoyable, and somewhat unique, experience.
So what ya waiting for, go get the video! - 3.5MB - WMV.
