Reports across the weekend suggest that the French publisher may have to pay over the odds for Eidos…

Shares within Ubisoft fell today after a report across the weekend suggested that it would have to pay a high price to acquire Eidos amid a possible bidding war.

Leading financial analysts have expressed concerns that purchasing Eidos would stretch its tight finances and penalise its shareholders, although naturally the move would allow the French publisher to continue expanding and access to a number of high-profile franchises such as Tomb Raider, Hitman and Deus Ex.

A report within the Sunday Telegraph suggests that Ubisoft are set to offer £215 million for Eidos, although the likes of Activision, EA, THQ and Microsoft have also been mentioned which could send the price spiralling past what many consider to be a premium.

Weâll have more information soon.
