Yohiharu Sato's innovative RPG heading to the DS in Europe and North America...

Following a previous agreement to meet East and West, Ubisoft today announced the spring release of Taito's Lost Magic for the Nintendo DS across Europe and North America.

"LOSTMAGIC brings role-playing games on the DS to a new level, capitalising on the innovative and unique gameplay abilities such as casting spells with the stylus and the global connectivity of the Wi-Fi mode," said Tony Kee, vice president of marketing at Ubisoft. "Ubisoft is proud to continue in its tradition of bringing cutting-edge games to gamers worldwide."

The creation of renowned art director Yoshiharu Sato (My Neighbor Totoro), Lost Magic tells the tale of peace in the world being challenged by an evil new force. As the wizard Isaac, players must retrieve and wield the seven magic wands left behind by the creator, using the stylus to combine up to three single spells to create more than 350 magical combinations.

The game shares a point 'n' click interface favoured in PC strategy and RPG titles, whilst also including a Wi-Fi battle mode.

It seems that the DS experiments with creative and rich gaming experiences looks set to continue; TVG will have a closer look at Lost Magic soon.
