Chairman Guillemot confirms to French Radio that plans have been drawn to keep Ubi Indie…
Ever since the news broke in December 2004 that EA had purchased a 19.9% stake in Ubisoft, rumours that the US superfirm has intentions to absorb the French publisher have quickly spread, and were fanned even more when Ubisoft announced that it considered EAâs action as hostile.
Since then weâve had reports and counter-reports from Vivendi and Infogrames announcing that they were offering to support their peer against any future action by Electronic Arts; but now it seems that Ubi may not require their help after all.
In a radio interview with France Info and reported by Agence France-Presse subsidiary AFX, Ubisoft Chairman Yves Guillemot said that, "All the strategies have been studied, and we have a plan, which I cannot reveal, that will allow us to win in this matter, that is to say to keep the creativity that constitutes Ubisoft's value today,"
There is no doubt that the statement is quite intriguing, and what form this âplanâ will take and when it is going to be announced is, for the moment, anybodyâs guess.
Weâll have more news on the future of Ubisoft soonâ¦
