A whole new world of Might & Magic revealed as Ubisoft reveals the prophecy of the Dark Messiah...
Ubi has unveiled the first details surrounding Dark Messiah of Might & Magic, which is set for release in 2006. Based in the world of Ashan, the new setting for future titles in the M&M series, players will take control of Sareth a hero trained in the skills to battle against prophetic Dark Messiah. Ashan is said to be a dark world with a bloody past with the threat of a âDark Messiahâ over it, and is every bit the âdark sideâ of the Might & Magic universe.
As youâd expect, players will be able to become on of several classes including a mage, assassin or warrior each with their own specialised weapons and skills leading to the further development of Sarethâs skills. Character performance such as health and speed will also be affected through combat as well as the ability to unlock a range of combos and critical hits.
Dark Messiah of Might & Magic has been developed with Valveâs Source Engine, which has allowed the team at Arkane Studios (Arx Fatalis) to create environments with high level visual effects, shader rendering and physics not to mention character animations and advanced levels of AI. The world of Dark Messiah of Might & Magic takes place across twelve levels with a wide range of fantasy races including Orcs and Trolls, and with over forty weapons to master (as well as various spells) Sarethâs adventure across Ashan looks set to be action packed. The game will also include an engaging multiplayer mode for up to 32 people to battle it out across several gametypes such as Deathmatches right through to the âEvolutionâ gametype where players can participate in online campaigns and gain experience and weapons as they goâ¦
"Dark Messiah of Might & Magic brings a new genre to gaming," says Tony Kee, Vice President of Marketing at Ubisoft. "Never before has the world seen a first-person action game set in a fantasy universe as compelling as the Might & Magic world. Not only will fans of the Might & Magic franchise be amazed by the direction we have gone with the game, but fans of the action genre will be blown away by the power of the Source Engine from Valve used in such an incredible and fantastical setting. Dark Messiah of Might and Magic will become the master of both worlds."
