UMD Movies To Be In Similar Price Range to DVDs News

Sony announce that the US retail price for UMD movies will fall between the $20 and $30 mark...

Sony have today announced that the UMD movies for the PSP will retail for around $20-$30 mark in the US, placing them squarely into the same bracket as DVDs. The availability of UMD movies is seen as a key sector for the PSP to meet its tag as âWalkman for the 21st Century,â and whilst the confirmation came at the same time as the sixth UMD movie was announced (House of Flying Daggers), the format is yet to secure any deals to release movies from outside of Sony Pictures.

The new title is to be sold at the increased price of $28.95, but as yet no explanation has been given as to why this is the case with speculation that a DVD style âbonus UMD â will be included in the price.

Weâll have more information on UMD movies as Sony announce more titles, especially if 3rd party movie companies jump on the bandwagon...

lol an 80 gb psp is not possible unless they use ssd hard drives which cost sh*t loads to buy independantly maybe you should get used to dreaming, though if they stop making any games for it or make a psp that could only get games from the ps3 then y... [ Read full comment... ]

UMD already dead. Sony has nothing to lose by adding
SD stuff on the Blu-ray discs for PSP viewing.

good point but i think i would only pay about $250 and not bother with the touch screen.with mobile tec in there you could play games over the net any time any where but only at a reasonable price of course.

Sony should have added a 40 or 80 gig internal hard drive like the ipod to the psp instead of making it thinner and lighter! With the extra space it would be
