HMV Oxford Street (yes, the one in London) to put on a show to celebrate the release of Japan's biggest-selling PS2 title in the UK...

UK retailer HMV has today announced plans to celebrate the release of Dragon Quest: The Journey of the Cursed King on April 13th at the company's Oxford Street store. Between 12pm and 3pm next Thursday, anyone who buys a copy of the game will also get a manga portrait of themselves as well as entrance to an exclusive competition to win a signed Dragon Quest poster from Yuji Horii, a Slime beanbag and a PlayStation2 controller, which aren't available in the UK.

The Dragon Quest Puff Puff girls will also be on hand to award prizes to gamers as they battle against some of the creatures found in the game.

The Dragon Quest series is massive in Japan with staggering facts surrounding the release of each iteration, including three million copies of the game selling in just three days in the territory, and co-ordinated release dates with public holidays in order to restrict people from taking off work and school. Dragon Quest: The Journey of the Cursed King is actually the best-selling PlayStation2 title in Japan of all time.
