Microsoft confirms that an updated version of Train Simulator is in development...
Microsoft Game Studios has confirmed (with the launch of a teaser micro-site) that a sequel to Train Simulator is in development, nearly three years after the publisher pulled the plug on the project.
The original title had been developed by UK-based Kuju Entertainment back in 2001, with a sequel cancelled back in April 2004. The studio is currently working on Rail Simulator for Electronic Arts, which is scheduled for release during 2007.
According to the teaser site, the new Train Simulator will be developed using the Flight Simulator X engine by in-house team, Aces Studio (who also created FSX). In a blog post from mid-January, Mike Gilbert, Lead Program Manager on the new Train Simulator, revealed that work on the then unannounced title started in the middle of 2006.
Further details are set to be unveiled during the course of the year.
