In 1998 Red Storm Entertainment introduced the world to a top-secret counter-terrorist task force known as Team RAINBOW. In 2001, the world will meet âThe Ghostsâ. In Tom Clancyâs Ghost Recon⢠you are invited to lead this brand-new squad as they focus on covert military strikes and international peacekeeping missions that do not always go as planned. You and your team conduct extensive missions on foot, but youâll occasionally have assistance from troops in tanks, helicopters and close air support. In many cases, youâll be working with international military forces and NATO to fight against rising dictators and rebel groups. Be prepared to scope out the defences of an enemy, blow up bridges to stop an advance, raid rebel bases, and rescue an American pilot who gets shot down deep in enemy territory.
The Ghosts are also the guinea pig squad for testing the Armyâs latest and greatest equipment and weaponry while under fire. Youâll have access to the latest weapons such as an M-16 assault rifle with a grenade launcher mounted underneath. Or, you could be responsible for the M-136 Anti-Tank Rocket that youâll carry on your back. Firepower this intense would knock a normal soldier off his feet in a second. For you itâs just another day, just another job.
Featuring brand new game and 3-D engines, Ghost Recon⢠marks Red Stormâs return to the âSquad based tactical shooterâ genre for the first time since 1999âs Tom Clancyâs Rogue Spearâ˘.
"We have a new engine, totally new characters, a new storyline, a new way of controlling the team," commented Red Storm's Chief Game Designer Brian Upton. "We think that even the most battle-hardened Rainbow Six veteran is going to be excited by where Ghost Recon⢠is taking the tactical shooter genre."
