Timesplitters: Future Perfect Details News

By Chris Leyton on 06/05/2004 Innovative “meet yourself” time-travel gameplay promised for the third title…

EA today released further details on TimeSplitters: Future Perfect, the latest title in the acclaimed first-person-shooter series from Free Radical Entertainment.

The third title in the series promises more time-travelling action, as players once again resume the role of Cortez, as he finds himself in a frantic race against time in a desperate bid to trace the origin of the Timesplitters and save mankind.

Free Radical promise hundreds of hours of gameplay, along with an improved Story Mode to tie in all the missions together, in an epic adventure that spans the years of 1914-2041.

In a interesting twist to previous versions and certainly a much-needed boost of innovation to the fps genre, players can make use of the “meet yourself” time-travel gameplay, allowing players to team up with the past and future versions of themselves – should be the coolest thing since Back to the Future.

Two players will be able to fight through the Story Mode in the Co-Op mode, in addition to extensive Challenge and Arcade modes; whilst the Playstation2 version will support online play for up to 16 players – no mention of Xbox Live! support as of yet.

In addition the Map Maker feature has been vastly improved, allowing players to easily create their own maps and share them online.

TimeSplitters: Future Perfect is scheduled for release on the Playstation2, Xbox and GameCube in 2005; we’ll have a closer look soon.
