By Jon Wilcox on 27/09/2004 As SCi acquire the rights to the sword-wielding, Christopher Lambert vehicle, TVG hopes that it’ll be more Highlander than Highlander 2: The Quickening…SCi Entertainment and Davis Panzer Productions have announced that they are to develop a game based on the Highlander series of films. Confirming the game, Patrick O'Luanaigh, Creative Director at SCi said; "There are so many great opportunities with such a rich license as the Highlander franchise. We will be working closely with Peter Davis and Bill Panzer to develop the Highlander universe further. The concept is ideal for a game."
Reinforcing the view of SCi, Davis and Panzer said that, "As we approach the Highlander Twentieth Anniversary Celebration, we are delighted that the Highlander game will be an integral part of that celebration."
Following the exploits of the Immortals as they race to be the only one remaining, Highlander spawned a series of films that experienced diminishing returns at the Box Office.
Itâs worth pointing that after close to two years since they acquired the rights for Reservoir Dogs, SCi are no closer to releasing a finished game. If a Highlander game was eventually released, we can only hope that the original movieâs soundtrack, created by Queen, will be retained.
TVG will have more news on SCiâs latest acquisition soonâ¦
