Rockstar Games has today announced that The Warriors will be released on PSP during the 2006 holiday season. The game, which is being handled by Rockstar's portable geniuses in Leeds (under supervision from Rockstar Toronto), is based on the 1979 movie of the same name, and was originally released on Xbox and PlayStation2 in Autumn 2005.

"We set out to create a highly sophisticated portable game that delivers a visceral experience previously unseen on the PSP system," stated Sam Houser, Founder and Executive Producer of Rockstar Games. "We are looking forward to setting the definitive bar for the brawler genre on the PSP system by delivering an extremely stylish and exceptionally deep experience."

"The PSP system allows us to deliver the experience in an entirely different way, while staying very faithful to the original source material and maintaining the high standards we set for ourselves as a developer."
