The PC smash set to transfer over to the ever console known to man in Autumn 2005...
After hitting the PC platform in 2004 it seems that Electronic Arts are preparing to launch a blanket invasion of The Sims 2 across all consoles known to man. Set for a release in Autumn 2005, the game will be released on (wait for it): GameCube, PlayStation2, Xbox, Nintendo DS, PSP, and GBA â“ mobile phone versions are also apparently in the works.
Reports suggest that the console adaptations will include a slight departure from the PC version with players able to have direct control over their sims with an over-the-shoulder third person perspective as a well as the ability to create food. Announcing the new versions, Sinjin Bain, Executive Producer EA/Maxis commented that, "Fans have been asking for The Sims 2 on console since it launched on the PC in September last year. We are thrilled to finally be able to bring it to themâ¦The Sims 2 will be everywhere this fall, giving players on consoles and handhelds all new ways to take control of their Sims and tell all new stories."
Quite frankly weâre surprised that EA havenât announced a Sinclair Spectrum or C64 version of the game, but then again that would be just sillyâ¦think how may cassettes The Sims 2 would fill up!
Weâll have more on this forthcoming invasion soon...
