Sierra has announced its tie-in game for the latest The Mummy film, Tomb of the Dragon Emperor...
Sierra has announced its game tie-in for The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Empire. The game will be released for the Wii, PS2, and DS alongside this latest The Mummy film, which will be the third in the series (fourth if you count the Scorpion King spin-off).
While the film is scheduled for release on August 1st, Sierra Entertainment's film licensed game will hit shop shelves a week later on August 8th. Pegged as an adventure game featuring gunplay, melee attacks, and hand-to-hand combat, there will also be some nifty Hieroglyphic decoding puzzles involved as well.
The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor is being developed at two separate studios. Eurocom Studios are developing for the Wii and PS2, while A2M have the privilege for Nintendo's DS.
"Sierra Entertainment is pleased to partner with Universal to deliver an exciting extension to this popular film franchise," said Al Simone, Senior Vice President, Global Marketing, Sierra Entertainment. "Developed in collaboration with the film's creative talent, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor video game will add another opportunity for players to experience the thrill and excitement of this adventure favourite."
As you'd expect, the game's story will follow that of the film, where Duncan Fraser is back yet again as the quip happy Rick O'Connell where he'll be joined by his son (Luke Ford) on this particular adventure. The job of evil bad guy/undead bloke has fallen to Jet-Li, who'll play the Dragon Emperor.
The Dragon Emperor will be ordering around his revived servant minions, while Rick O'Connell and son will traverse various Far-Eastern locations such as Chinese Catacombs and Himalayan mountain ranges.
