Lionhead announces comprehensive online support for its eagerly awaited title The Movies...

Lionhead Studios and Activision today confirmed a community website to coincide with the forthcoming release of The Movies. The Movies Online provides a community area where wannabe filmmakers can upload and share their creations, while hosting a virtual film festival to promote the best on offer.

Members of the site will also find a host of competitions, award ceremonies, prop shops and additional downloads that promise to extend the gameâs experience in a similar manner to The Sims series.

Movies can be uploaded automatically to the site whilst in the game thanks to a specifically created interface. Each player registered has a Studio page which acts as a HUB for all creations, which other members can then vote on and thus increase or decrease a playerâs reputation. Increased reputation rewards the player with more virtual online credits, which can be used to buy new upgrades and extra content.

Whether or not this functionality will feature in the up-in-the-air console versions is very doubtful; rest assured weâll have further coverage of the title soon.
