EA confirms a major slip to one of its holiday season hopes...
EA today confirmed that one of its blockbuster Christmas titles has slipped into 2006. Being the publisherâs first major foray into the Mature market, a lot of attention has been placed onto the adaptation of Mario Puzoâs âThe Godfatherâ and Paramount Pictures subsequent motion-picture.
Citing the extra time to perfect the open-world experience that the game presents to players, The Godfather: The Game will now ship within the publisherâs fourth fiscal quarter which ends March 31st 2006 with the Xbox360 version following later in the year. Although todayâs announcement makes no reference to the confirmed PSP adaptation a similar delay is expected, additionally refuting earlier rumours that had hinted of a Nintendo DS adaptation in the pipeline.
"The Godfather is one of the most cherished franchises in entertainment," said Executive Producer David DeMartini. "Releasing the game in early 2006 allows us more time to perfect the open-world experience of being a member of the Corleone family."
With Vivendi-Universal previously confirming a delay to Scarface: The World is Yours, it appears that the showdown between the two movie heavyweights may once again be on the cards.
