The Getaway 2 - First Screens + Info News

SCEE send us along the first screens and information from the eagerly awaited sequel...

SCEE today sent us along the first batch of screens from the as-of-yet unannounced āThe Getaway 2ā ā“ sequel to the hit selling and highly cinematic London gangster action title.

Once again the game will be set in London scotching rumours that it would be set north of the border in Edinburgh. Many years were spent painstakingly recreating the streets of London, so this certainly makes sense, however we suspect that the city will be enhanced significantly from the original.

Unfortunately specific details are currently being kept a closely guarded secret; however we have been able to garnish some information on Eddie, the main character seen in the screens.

Eddie OāConnor is described as a part-time fighter, part-time bouncer and occasional hired muscle; born and brought up with the traditional values of the East End. His boxing has earned him a certain degree of fame and notoriety, however this risks dragging him into a world he canāt control.

Although the original did have its problems, weāre certainly looking forward to seeing this one in action; we suspect that the game will continue in the same cinematic trend as that of the original, whilst hopefully upping the action stakes and the interaction between the player and the environment ā“ however donāt quote us on that one just of yet.

Speculating wildly from the screens, it appears that a chase scene occurs over the rooftops with Specialist Operations in close pursuit of Eddie; once again itās only speculation, but weāre hoping this is a sign of in the increase in game tempo and not merely taken from a cut-scene within the game.
