Amazon France posts release dates and price for both the Playstation3 and the Nintendo Revolution...
Well either somebodyās been telling those crafty French something that we donāt know or theyāre hoping to get one up over Nintendo and Sony, as today Amazon.fr revealed what it thinks to be the launch date and price for both Revolution and the Playstation3.
Backing up the widely held belief that Sony will unleash the Playstation3 during Spring 2006, the online retailer suggests this will occur on March 15th 2006 for 399.99 euros (£270). Nintendo will follow shortly after with the Revolution, allegedly due for release on June 15th 2006 (hmmm) for the slightly steep price of 299.99 euros (£202).
Now we donāt want to spoil a party however as far as weāre concerned Spring 2006 is the tentative launch for the Playstation3 in Japan; now Sony could emulate a similar strategy to the forthcoming launch of the Xbox360, however we doubt it.
The likely truth is that Amazon kick-starts pre-orders ahead of the game; locking consumers in is a key strategy in the dog-eat-dog world of retail, particular when youāre talking online. What appears to be the case is that Amazon have taken the expected quarter and simply taken the middle date, i.e. Q1 March 15th and Q2 June 15th.
Our suggestion is to wait and see; we canāt see the official dates varying too drastically but have to believe that this is simply one retailerās attempt to grab your money before another one does.
