The Don Will Call In Fall 2005 News

By Jon Wilcox on 16/12/2004 EA to make you a game that you can’t refuse in Fall 2005…

Even though he died earlier in the year, Marlon Brando is set to reprise his role as the The Godfather in the video game adaptation of Francis Ford Coppolla’s 70’s masterpiece.

Electronic Arts secured the rights to use Brando’s likeness in the game, based on both Coppolla’s movie and the Mario Puzo’s classic novel, before the Hollywood giant died in July – suggestions had been made that the veteran actor had recorded lines for the game by that time, although this is yet to be confirmed; EA also recently secured the rights to use the film's musical score.

The teaser trailer that has kick started the anticipation for the game was unveiled at the Spike TV awards earlier this week, and shows a phenomenally rendered Brando sitting behind his desk in full Godfather glory.

The game is expected to be a third person game with some reports suggesting that it will take a similar approach to GTA and True Crime, although actual details from EA themselves are scant.

What we do know is that it has been pencilled in for release in Fall 2005, we’ll have more news on The Godfather soon…

Isn´t buying and selling of ingame currency regarded "illegal" by most game companies? I guess its ok as long as the publisher is the one making the money. I am afraid functions like these will only allow developers to think: ehh, we´ll add all those extra cool features later.. and make some extra money in the process.
