A few images from Atari's first person, multi-player, online PC game that pits humans against the machines in a fight for survival...
This takes us back to Terminator Future Shock. A very interesting game by Bethseda Softworks that featured fully three dimensional polygonal graphics in a first person shooter, before Quake had shown everyone how it should be done. It also let you take control of jeeps and hunter killers and really did a good job of capturing the feel of the war that we glimpsed, but never really saw in the Terminator Films.
Trip down memory lane over... Later this year Atari will be releasing Terminator 3: War of the Machines on the PC later this year ? don't get this confused with Rise of the Machines. With up to 32 people battling it out as either humans or Terminators things could get pretty manic, especially with Hunter Killers and various other vehicles on the prowl. Lots of futuristic weaponry, and the hardy nature of the Terminators should be make for an interesting combination
There will also be a one-player game as well, which sounds actually very sweet. You start off as a Terminator working for Sky Net, then you get captured and reprogrammed to fight for the humans. That alone shows some interesting approach to scripting, and hopefully will translate into a compelling game, doing justice to the license and our memory Future Shock.
