The King of Iron Fist Tournament is officially confirmed by Sony for the PSP...


Despite rumours and reports from Japan that Tekken will be heading over to the PSP, confirmation that the classic PlayStation fighting franchise is to be released on the handheld has finally been made by Sony.

Tekken: Dark Resurrection will be a port of the arcade version of Tekken 5, and as well as elements from the coin-op including the additional two characters (Dragunov and Lili), the game will also include exclusive PSP features (which are yet to be announced.) Up to thirty characters will feature in the game - including the return of Armour King - with up to nineteen stages and 2-player multiplayer support via the PSP's Ad Hoc function.

The Tekken franchise has always been synonymous with Sony's gaming ventures so it isn't surprising that the move has been made to port the series over to PSP - if anything it's the length of time it's taken to get the game over to the handheld that's the surprising part.
